GoZone Key Benefits

How GoZone Works

GoZone is an on-demand rideshare service, powered by Via, that riders utilize for trips within, and sometimes between, designated zones in Denton County. The on-demand service uses a mobile app where passengers book their trips in real-time.

A fleet of dedicated branded vans is used to pick up and drop off riders at virtual stops within the zones.

Commute or run errands in Denton, Highland Village, Lewisville and Castle Hills. GoZone operates seven days a week and has a promotional cost of $0.75 or at no extra cost with an eligible DCTA pass.

Why GoZone over Fixed Route Connect Bus Service?

After extensive research on options for enhanced service delivery, DCTA and its board of directors, concluded that an on-demand service model would be the most advantageous service for both DCTA passengers and the agency overall.

In January 2021, our board of directors awarded an on-demand service delivery contract to Via which allowed the agency to work with Via to develop a proposed service plan to take to the public for review and input. On July 22, 2021, our board of directors approved GoZone for the official September 7, 2021 launch.

Our GoZone on-demand rideshare service covers areas currently served by fixed route and on-demand zones. In some cases, the service extends beyond the agency’s current service structure.

Can I book rides without a smartphone?

Yes, simply call 940-243-0077 and we’ll assist you over the phone. Passengers may also book trips in person at our Downtown Denton Transit Center.

Can I bring someone along with me?

How do I know where to meet my driver?

We’ll assign you a “virtual bus stop” where you’ll meet the vehicle, usually at a nearby corner or no more than a block away. Check the app for directions and follow your driver’s progress in real-time, so you know exactly when to head outside.

There are three easy ways to pay for GoZone rides:

  1. When creating an account in the GoZone app, you’ll be prompted to add your credit or debit card information. You will be automatically charged once you’ve completed a ride.
  2. You can pay with cash on board, but please note that exact change is required.

Re-book directly in your app, and then send an email explaining what happened to gozone@dcta.net. You won’t be charged for this ride.

What do the vehicles look like?

All vehicles are branded with GoZone’s logo and colors, so they should be easy to spot.

Are vehicles wheelchair accessible?

Yes! Please let us know you need a wheelchair accessible vehicle when you book your ride by tapping your profile picture or image at the top of the app menu and tapping the Wheelchair accessibility toggle to turn it on. This will also unlock curb to curb service.

How can I stay safe riding GoZone?

Safety measures GoZone is taking to lessen COVID-19 exposure. We’re working hard to ensure that every trip you take is as safe and worry-free as possible.

  • Face masks required: Everyone on board is required to wear a face mask or face covering. Passengers not wearing a face mask may be refused service.
  • Wellness checks: In-app wellness checks help make sure passengers and drivers are symptom-free and ready to ride before they get going. Please stay home if you have either been diagnosed with COVID-19, think you’re exhibiting symptoms, or have been in contact with someone who has recently tested positive.
  • Regular vehicle cleaning: Vehicles are being professionally cleaned regularly and we’ve provided drivers with cleaning supplies in order to perform frequent and thorough wipedowns of the vehicle interior, with extra focus on common surfaces and high-contact areas. They’re also equipped with plastic partitions between drivers and riders.
  • Constant evaluation: Regularly evaluating our safety measures to align with COVID-19 policies and regulations based on the current state of the response is a top priority.

Can I bring my bike on board?

Yes! Most vehicles come equipped with bike racks.

Can I change my destination once I’m on board?

Once you start a ride, the destination cannot be changed. If you have not yet boarded the vehicle, you can cancel the ride and re-book with a new destination.

Can I set a favorite location in the app?

Yes. Tap the Favorites tab in the app menu, then tap Set Home Address or Set Work Address and type in the address of your preferred location.

Can I leave feedback for my driver?

Feel free to fill out the feedback screen in the app after your ride.

How do I reset my password?

Open the app and select “Get Started.” In the password box, select “Forgot” your password? and follow the prompts.

I left something in the vehicle — how do I retrieve it?

Please call us at 940-243-0077with a description of the missing item.
