University Services

DCTA partners with local colleges and universities to provide transit solutions for students, faculty and staff. Each partnership is customized to the specific needs of the organization.

Students, faculty & staff of UNT receive free fare with the following DCTA services by presenting their UNT identification cards: UNT Campus Shuttles, Denton Connect Buses and Lewisville Connect Buses.

Additionally, DCTA provides a comprehensive University Pass Program that offers a discounted pass for students, faculty and staff looking to incorporate the A-train in their travels on a regular basis. For more information on the University Pass Program, click here.

The UNT Campus Shuttle is a DCTA service offered in partnership with University of North Texas (UNT) to provide direct shuttle service to the campus and off campus student-oriented housing.

UNT Campus Shuttle Hours & Holidays

During the academic year, the UNT Shuttle operates Monday through Friday, with Campus Cruiser service on nights and weekends. Limited summer service is offered late May through mid-August. Click here for a downloadable schedule.

Cost To Ride

The UNT shuttle is open to any and all riders. Valid DCTA Local AM and PM, Day pass and Regional fare options are accepted. UNT students, faculty and staff with a valid school ID ride the UNT shuttle and connect bus service for no additional fare.

Connect route 7 serves the University of North Texas from the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC) offering transfer opportunities to the A-train.

Additional Services Available 

The UNT Parking & Transportation office provides additional transportation programs for UNT students, faculty and staff; such as ridesharing, E-Ride late-night on-demand service, Lyft program and an hourly rental car program.

Effective August 1, 2020, DCTA’s NCTC Campus Shuttle service will no longer be in operation due to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The agency is working closely with NCTC leadership for potential mobility options in the future for students, faculty and staff. Passengers can still access the downtown Denton NCTC campus via Denton Connect Route 7 or the A-train to get around. Other DCTA services are also available for NCTC student, faculty and staff transportation needs. Need a discount option for DCTA transit? Check out DCTA’s University Pass Program.

Access to Denton and Lewisville Connect bus service will require appropriate fare. NCTC IDs will no longer qualify for acceptable fare.

While DCTA don’t have dedicated shuttle services with Texas Woman's University (TWU), we still have services available (Connect Route 6 & A-train) that faculty, staff and students can utilize to get around.


Cost to Ride

Students may use DCTA A-train, Connect bus and Lewisville Lakeway On-Demand services at a reduced rate by purchasing passes exclusively at the TWU Student Union (room 209). Students who do not purchase passes through the TWU Student Union must pay full fare. Faculty and staff will be required to pay the full fare as well.    

DCTA Service Connections to TWU Campuses

TWU Denton Campus
Connect Route 6 serve Texas Woman's University from the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC) offering transfer opportunities to the A-train.


TWU Dallas Campus*
To get to the TWU Dallas Campus, take the A-train south to the Trinity Mills Station. Transfer to DART's Green Line at the Trinity Mills Station. Get off the Green Line at the Southwest Medical District/Parkland Station and take either Bus Route 405 or Bus Route 453 to the Inwood @ Southwestern Medical stop.

Returning from the TWU Dallas Campus you will pick up Bus Route 453 at the Inwood @ Southwestern Medical stop. Take Bus Route 453 to the Southwest Medical District/Parkland Station where you will catch the Green Line headed north to the Trinity Mills Station. At the Trinity Mills Station transfer to the A-train.
