The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) is making transportation easier, affordable and accessible to popular destinations in Denton County and beyond for residents of their member cities. For less than $5.00 a day, passengers can enjoy a day pass that includes A-train rides for $3.00 and GoZone rides for only $1.50 per trip.
Many riders are taking advantage of the various modes, utilizing them for commutes, errands, appointments, or simply to enjoy a day out in North Texas.
“Access to regional transportation options is crucial for linking our member cities to destinations throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex,” said Paul Cristina, CEO of DCTA. “Our ridership data in the Lewisville and Highland Village zone indicates students frequently use our services to get to our great public and post-secondary schools. Furthermore, demand for GoZone connectivity to the A-train remains strong year after year. We are dedicated to ensuring that our services enable residents of our member cities to reach the places they want to go.”
One satisfied user, Angella Campuzano Morales, a Lewisville resident and college student, recently shared her experience with multi-modal transportation. Angella’s daily commute involves booking a trip via the GoZone app from her Lewisville apartment to Old Town Station. From there, she boards the A-train for a 30-minute ride, which she uses to catch up on reading or schoolwork.
Upon arriving at the Downtown Denton Transit Center, Morales takes the Route 7 Connect bus for the final leg of her journey to campus.
“I appreciate the lack of traffic and the scenic views,” she says. “I use the time to read or catch up on work.”
The reliability of the transit schedule enables customers to plan their day more effectively, since commute times on the A-train and other rail assets are not affected by traffic.
The A-train also allows riders to explore the wider North Texas region. Passengers can connect to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Green Line at Trinity Mills Station, making it easy to reach popular destinations such as Downtown Dallas, the American Airlines Center, Fair Park, and the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. Further connections to cities like Addison, Plano and Fort Worth enable even more travel opportunities for residents.
