Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) is celebrating National Dump the Pump Day on Thursday, June 16, 2022. This year marks the 17th Annual National Dump the Pump Day as a day that encourages people to ride public transportation to save money, help protect the environment, reduce our dependence on foreign oil and improve the quality of life for all Americans.
To help celebrate, DCTA is having a Free Ride Day on June 16th. All day long, passengers will be treated to free rides throughout Denton on Denton Connect fixed routes and along the entire route of the DCTA A-train. This is a fantastic opportunity for both new and longtime riders to use services for free and take advantage of DCTA’s public transit system.
According to the American Public Transportation Association, for every $1 invested in public transportation, $4 is generated in economic returns. Additionally, people who ride public transportation can save, on average, more than $10,000 per year, based on today’s gas prices and the cost of owning a car.
